Text-based PDFs work out of the box: the kind exported from Word, Pages, Google Docs, or any modern document tool. Scanned image PDFs (photos of pages, no text layer) don't have text to edit directly, but the OCR PDF tool can read a scan and add a selectable text layer so it becomes searchable. If you just need to fill a form from a photo, Smart Fill handles that today.
Editing costs nothing and needs no account, every editing tool (text, shapes, signatures, forms, page ops) works on the free tier, and exports carry no watermark. There is one shared free-plan limit: 10 finished files a day across every tool, reset at midnight UTC. A few features have their own caps on top of that: the bank statement splitter covers the first 3 months, Smart Fill has a fill limit, the invoice generator includes 8 of 20 templates, and you can send 3 documents for signature every 30 days. Pro ($3.99/mo) lifts all of those and adds priority support. Your uploaded file auto-deletes after 2 hours either way.
Editing happens in your browser, so keystrokes never leave your device. We do upload your file to short-term storage to render it back to you, but that copy auto-deletes after 2 hours. We don't run analytics on document contents, and we never ask for an email address.
We extract embedded fonts from your PDF on load and re-embed them when you save. If a font isn't embedded, we fall back to a close match and warn you. Most documents look pixel-identical to the original.

The sign tool lets you draw a signature, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your ink signature — the paper background is removed automatically so only the ink lands on the page. Signing your own documents is free with no account, and the signature is drawn into the downloaded file so it displays the same in every PDF reader. You can also send a document to other people for signature with a tracked audit trail.
Merge, split, rotate, reorder, delete, and extract pages each have their own dedicated tool page. Add watermarks and page numbers too. All of them run client-side with no usage cap.

Editing logic runs in your browser, so once the page loads you can edit without a connection. Saving requires a brief connection to fetch the original bytes.
