Fit-to-image sizes every page to its own picture exactly, so there is no border at all and nothing is scaled. It suits screenshots, artwork, and anything that should fill the page edge to edge.

A4 and US Letter put each picture in the middle of a standard page with a small margin around it. Mixed portrait and landscape photos all end up on the same page shape, which is what you want before printing.

No. The original JPG bytes are embedded in the PDF as they are. There is no second round of compression, so the document shows exactly the pixels you handed it, at full resolution.

The honest flip side: big photos make big PDFs. Twenty 8 MB camera shots produce a PDF in the same neighborhood.

If the result is too heavy to email, shrink the photos before converting, or run the finished PDF through compression. Compressing after the fact is usually easier and keeps the page count and order intact.

This tool takes JPG and PNG only, so a HEIC file straight off an iPhone is rejected. Either set the phone's camera to Most Compatible so it shoots JPG, or use the HEIC converter, which handles that format directly.

PNG transparency is kept in the embedded image, but the PDF page underneath is plain white, so see-through areas simply show white. That is what a viewer or a printer would do with it anyway.

Photos of paper work well as long as the shot is square-on and evenly lit. Crop out the desk and the shadows before converting, since the picture goes in exactly as it is. Nothing here straightens a skewed page for you.

A photo of a page is still a photo once it is inside the PDF. The letters are pixels, so nothing can find them. Run the finished file through OCR to add a text layer, and then the document becomes searchable and copyable.
