Converting Excel to PDF: FAQ

Does my workbook leave my device?+

No. The conversion runs in your browser. Your file is read and turned into a PDF on the same machine you opened the page on, and nothing is sent to a server.

Why is the PDF in landscape?+

Because spreadsheets are wider than they are tall. Landscape fits far more columns on a page before anything has to shrink, so the result stays readable.

Do formulas work?+

You see the values, not the formulas. A spreadsheet file stores the last calculated result next to each formula, and that is what appears. If the workbook was edited somewhere that did not recalculate, those values could be out of date.

What about charts and images?+

They are not drawn into the PDF. Only the cell data is included. This is the main gap to know about if your workbook is mostly a dashboard.

Are all my sheets included?+

Yes. Every sheet with data in it becomes its own section, starting on a new page, with the sheet name as a heading. Empty sheets are skipped.

Is there a limit on size?+

The file limit is 25 MB. Very large sheets are cut at 2000 rows and 40 columns each, and the tool tells you when that happened, because past that a PDF stops being something anyone can read.
