• Editing runs in your browser. Most online PDF editors POST your file to a server, edit it there, and send a rasterized copy back. We do the work in your browser via PDF.js + pdf-lib. Files transit a short-term store only so we can render the initial canvas. Without an account that copy is deleted in 2 hours; a signed-in user can choose to keep a file in their account instead.
• Free to edit, no signup. Every editing tool works for free, 10 finished files a day with no account, and exports are clean, with no watermark, even on the free plan. Pro ($3.99/month) adds power features like full-year bank statement splitting and all 20 invoice templates.
• Redaction that actually removes the text. Most tools draw a black box over a word and leave the word sitting underneath, where anyone can select or search for it. FileHook rebuilds every boxed page as a flat image, so the hidden text is gone from the file rather than covered up.
• Real AcroForm fields. Forms exported from the editor are interactive in any PDF reader, not just visual overlays.
