All the app feel — none of the download

Most photo apps want you to install something, hand over an account and upload your photo. This one is a web app: open the URL on any device and start cropping. Add it to your home screen and it opens full-screen with its own icon, the same as a native app.

  • No App Store wait — open and start. Updates are instant.
  • Works everywhere — iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, ChromeOS — one URL covers them all.
  • Privacy by default — your photo never leaves the device. Cropping runs locally in the browser tab.
  • Home screen install — "Add to Home Screen" on iOS or Android gives it a full-screen experience with its own icon.

Passport photo app — FAQ

Is this a real app or a website?+

It's a web app — same idea as an app, but it runs in your browser instead of as a download from an app store. Open the URL and it works. No App Store, no Play Store, no install. It can also be saved to your home screen on iOS and Android for an app-like icon and full-screen experience.

Why a browser app instead of a downloaded one?+

Three reasons: no app store review or wait, updates are instant (refresh the page), and your photo never uploads to a server because the cropping runs in your browser. A browser app also works the same on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS — one URL covers them all.

Does the passport photo app work offline?+

After the first load, most of the page is cached and the cropping logic works offline. Saving a generated PDF or JPG works offline. Country specs are bundled into the page, so picking a country works offline too.

How do I add the passport photo app to my home screen?+

On iPhone: tap the share icon in Safari, then "Add to Home Screen". On Android: open the menu in Chrome, then "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen". The app then opens full-screen with its own icon, just like any other app.

What's the difference between Free and Pro in the app?+

Free covers the full cropping flow with a small FileHook tag at the bottom of the photo. Pro removes the tag for clean official-ready files at $9.99/month. The 67 country specs, background colour rules and print sheet PDF are identical on both tiers.
