The passport photo appyou never install
Open one URL and you have the app: 67 country presets, official sizes, accepted backgrounds, a print sheet PDF. Save it to your home screen and it behaves like the store kind, minus the download.
All the app feel, none of the download
Most photo apps start by asking for an install, an account and an upload. This one starts with your photo. Open the page on any device and crop. The first visit needs a connection; after that, the cached app keeps working offline.
- No store wait. Open and start. Updates arrive when you refresh.
- One URL everywhere. iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS all get the same app.
- On-device processing. The crop runs inside the tab, so the photo stays with you.
- Home screen install. "Add to Home Screen" on iOS or Android gives it full-screen and its own icon.
Web app questions
Is this a real app or a website?+
It runs as a web app. Open the URL and it works, with no App Store or Play Store step in between. On iOS and Android you can save it to your home screen, where it opens full-screen with its own icon like anything you installed.
Why a browser app instead of a downloaded one?+
Updates land the moment you refresh, there is no store review wait, and the cropping runs on your device instead of a server. One URL also behaves the same on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS.
Does the passport photo app work offline?+
Most of it, after the first visit. The page and the country specs get cached, so picking a country, cropping and saving a JPG or PDF all work without a connection. The very first load does need internet.
How do I add the passport photo app to my home screen?+
On iPhone, open the page in Safari, tap the share icon, then "Add to Home Screen". On Android, open Chrome's menu and choose "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen". Either way you get an icon that launches the maker full-screen.
What's the difference between Free and Pro in the app?+
Passport photos sit entirely on the free side of FileHook: all 67 presets, the background tools and the 4x6 inch print sheet PDF. Downloads carry no tag. Pro ($3.99/month) is for heavier tools elsewhere, like full-year bank statement splits.
