What actually goes wrong
Speed is the whole game
In a tight market the unit goes to whoever's file is complete first. Assemble the pack once, keep it, and re-send it the same hour you tour a place.
Never email your SSN
Credit and background checks run on the landlord's own portal. If someone asks you to put a full Social Security number or a bank login in a PDF or an email, that's a red flag, not a requirement.
