A passport photo maker built on official specs
Every preset stores the published requirements for one country: photo size, head height range, eye line, accepted backgrounds. Sixty-seven of them, from the US 2x2 inch to the UK 35x45 mm. Crop once and the maker keeps you inside those numbers.
The spec does the hard part
You position the face. The maker holds the ratio, the head size and the eye line to the official numbers, and flags when the head sits outside the guides. What it cannot judge is lighting, so shoot near a window; shadows on the face are still the top reason photos get rejected.
- 67 country presets. Sizes, head heights and accepted backgrounds, sourced from each government's own photo requirements page.
- A locked crop frame. The ratio and head guides follow the preset, so the photo cannot drift out of spec while you drag.
- Two outputs. A single JPG for online forms and a 4x6 inch print sheet PDF for the photo counter.
- Background swap. Turns a near-white wall into the exact accepted colour.
About the maker
What is the FileHook passport photo maker?+
A web tool that turns a normal phone picture into a compliant passport photo. You pick one of 67 country presets, crop against head-height guides, choose an accepted background, and save a JPG or a 4x6 inch print sheet PDF. The whole thing runs inside your browser, so the picture never leaves your device.
Which country specs are supported?+
The preset list covers 67 countries and regions, including the US, UK, Canada, Schengen visa, India, Australia, Japan, Brazil, Singapore, UAE, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. Each entry stores the official photo size, head height rule and accepted background colours, taken from that country's government requirements.
How does the maker match the official size?+
Each preset sets the frame in millimetres or inches, the share of the frame the head must fill, and where the eye line sits. The cropper enforces those proportions while you drag, which is why the result comes out at spec instead of roughly close.
Can I change the background colour?+
The maker lists the colours your destination accepts (white, off-white, light grey or light blue) and can swap near-white pixels to the one you pick. It will not rescue a dark or cluttered background; reshoot against a pale wall for that.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?+
None for this tool. Cropping, backgrounds and the print sheet all sit on the free side, and the file you save carries no FileHook tag. Pro ($3.99/month) exists for heavier tools elsewhere on FileHook, like full-year bank statement splitting.
Can I print the photo at a drugstore?+
One 4x6 print gives you several finished photos. The maker lays your photo out on the sheet at exact size, adds cut marks, and exports a PDF that CVS, Walgreens, Boots, Walmart or Costco can print like any snapshot.
