E-signature legality in Singapore
Electronic signatures are recognised for most transactions under a technology-neutral reliability test, with a short and precise exclusion list.
Satisfies the statutory test for ordinary business contracts, with no accredited authority, certificate or identity check needed. The catch is that it will not qualify as a secure electronic signature, so you get no presumption and must prove identity and intent from your own logs.
The governing law
Electronic Transactions Act 2010 (2020 Revised Edition), as amended by Act 5 of 2021 and Act 16 of 2021.
Types of signature recognised
An electronic signature, which is fully technology-neutral; a secure electronic signature, which is a status that unlocks evidential presumptions rather than a requirement; and a digital signature under the Third Schedule, treated as secure when backed by an accredited certification authority or an express agreement between the parties.

- Employment contracts and offer letters

- Board and shareholder resolutions
What you cannot sign electronically in Singapore
This is the part worth reading twice. These documents either cannot be signed electronically at all, or need a higher-assurance form than an ordinary online signature.
- Wills
- Indentures and declarations of trust (implied, constructive and resulting trusts are not excluded)
- Powers of attorney, except lasting powers of attorney
- Contracts for the sale or disposition of immovable property
- Conveyances of immovable property, and transfers of an interest in it
What matters in practice
The whole test is a method that identifies the person and shows intent, and is either appropriately reliable or proven in fact to have worked. That second limb is the practical safety net. Note that parties can contractually require wet ink, and that clause is enforceable. Negotiable instruments and documents of title left the exclusion list in 2021 and now run under a separate electronic transferable records regime.
