What is the CAS statement PDF password?
For an NSDL or CDSL e-CAS, it is the PAN of the first holder in capitals, like ABCDE1234F. For a CAMS or KFintech statement, it is the password you typed yourself when you asked for it. Know yours? Type it once below to save a copy that opens without a password.
The CAS statement password, by who sent it
The PAN of the first or only demat account holder, typed in CAPITAL letters. 10 characters.
Example (made-up details): PAN ABCDE1234F = ABCDE1234F
The same rule: the PAN of the first or only demat account holder, typed in CAPITAL letters.
Example (made-up details): PAN ABCDE1234F = ABCDE1234F
The password you typed yourself on the request form. There is no formula. Nobody else chose it, and it is not built from your PAN or date of birth.
Where this rule comes from
NSDL and CDSL each state the PAN rule in their own FAQ on the consolidated account statement. For the statement you request yourself, KFintech's request form asks you to enter a password and says you will need it to open the statement. For CAMS we could not load the request form itself, so that part rests on two independent investing sites that describe the same step.

Why the password is refused
- PAN in small letters. NSDL and CDSL both say capitals. abcde1234f will not open an e-CAS. This is the reverse of income tax PDFs, which want small letters.
- Your PAN on a joint account where you are not the first holder. The password is the PAN of the first or only holder of the demat account. If the statement came to you as a second holder, your own PAN will not open it.
- Adding a date of birth. An e-CAS uses the PAN alone. Nothing goes after it.
- Trying your PAN on a CAMS or KFintech statement. Those open only with the password you chose on the form. If you have forgotten it, ask for the statement again and pick a new one. It arrives by email.
Tired of typing it every time?
Drop the PDF below and type the password once. You get a copy that opens without it. The unlocking runs in your browser, so the file and the password are not uploaded. A wrong password only shows an error, and the tool cannot open a file you do not have the password for.
Before you save an open copy
This is for your own statement and your own password. The copy you save here opens without a password, and it lists your holdings, so share it only with people and tools you trust. NSDL says its e-CAS is a digitally signed PDF. That signature only checks out on the original file, so keep the original too.
Check who sent the statement
An e-CAS comes by email from NSDL or CDSL. A statement from CAMS or KFintech is one you asked for on their website, with a password you typed on the form.
Open it with the right password
For NSDL or CDSL, type the first holder's PAN in capitals, like ABCDE1234F. For CAMS or KFintech, type the password you entered on the request form.
Save a copy without the password
Drop the PDF in the box above, type the same password once, and download the open copy. Portfolio trackers and tax tools often cannot read a locked file, so this is the copy to give them.
CAS statement password (NSDL, CDSL, CAMS, KFintech): questions
What is the password for an NSDL CAS statement?
The PAN of the first or only demat account holder, typed in capital letters. NSDL states this in its own FAQ. For PAN ABCDE1234F the password is ABCDE1234F.
What is the password for a CDSL CAS statement?
The same as NSDL: the PAN of the first or only demat account holder, in capital letters. CDSL states this in its own FAQ.
What is the password for a CAMS or KFintech CAS statement?
The one you typed yourself when you asked for the statement. There is no formula. If you have forgotten it, request the statement again and choose a new password. The new statement arrives by email.
My CAS password is not working. What should I check?
For NSDL and CDSL, type the PAN in capitals, use the first holder's PAN on a joint account, and add nothing after it. For CAMS and KFintech, your PAN will not work. Use the password you set on the request form, or request the statement again.
Why remove the password from a CAS statement?
Portfolio trackers, tax filing tools and accountants often need the file, and many cannot type a password for you. An open copy of your own statement works everywhere. Keep it somewhere safe, because it lists everything you hold.
Can this open the file if I do not know the password?
No. You have to type the correct password first. The tool does not guess or recover passwords. If you cannot work it out, download a duplicate e-CAS from NSDL or CDSL, or request a new statement from CAMS or KFintech with a password you choose.
Is my file uploaded when I unlock it here?
No. The unlocking runs in your browser. The PDF and the password stay on your device and are not sent to our server.
