What is the Form 26AS PDF password?
Your date of birth as 8 digits: day, month, then the full year. Born 1 May 1979? Type 01051979. Know yours? Type it once below to save a copy of your own Form 26AS that opens without a password.
The Form 26AS password format
Your date of birth as DDMMYYYY: 2 digits for the day, 2 for the month, 4 for the year. 8 digits, nothing else.
Example (made-up details): Born 1 May 1979 = 01051979
One of the two sites also lists the same 8 digits for the ZIP file. We have only that one source for the ZIP, so treat it as likely, not confirmed.
Example (made-up details): Born 1 January 2011 = 01012011
Where this rule comes from
We could not open a TRACES or Income Tax Department page that prints this rule, so this page rests on two independent tax sites that agree: TaxGuru, in two separate articles, and TDSMAN. Neither site says what a company or firm should type. For a non-individual, read the note on the TRACES download screen.

Why the password is refused
- Using the AIS or ITR-V rule. The AIS and the ITR-V use your PAN in small letters followed by your date of birth. Form 26AS is reported to use the date of birth alone. If you typed your PAN first, take it off.
- Month before day. The day comes first. 1 May is 0105, not 0501.
- A two-digit year or a missing zero. The password is always 8 digits. 1 May 1979 is 01051979.
- Slashes or dashes. Type digits only. 01/05/1979 will not open the file.

Is the Form 26AS password the same as the AIS password?
No. The AIS PDF uses your PAN in small letters followed by your date of birth. Form 26AS is reported to use the date of birth alone.
What is the Form 26AS password for a company?
The sources we read do not say. Many income tax PDFs use the date of incorporation where an individual would use a date of birth, but we could not confirm that for Form 26AS. Read the note on the TRACES download screen.
My Form 26AS password is not working. What should I check?
Check that you typed only your date of birth, with the day first, a 4-digit year, and zeros in front of single digits. If you typed your PAN in front, remove it. That is the AIS rule, not the Form 26AS rule.
Can this open the file if I do not know the password?
No. You have to type the correct password first. The tool does not guess or recover passwords. If you cannot work it out, download the form again from TRACES and read the note on the download screen.
Is my file uploaded when I unlock it here?
No. The unlocking runs in your browser. The PDF and the password stay on your device and are not sent to our server.
e-Aadhaar PDF password
The first 4 letters of your name in capitals, then your year of birth as 4 digits, like SURE1990.
e-PAN card PDF password
Your date of birth as DDMMYYYY, 8 digits with nothing in between, like 15031990.
ITR-V, AIS and income tax notice password
ITR-V, AIS and income tax notices: your PAN in small letters, then your date of birth as DDMMYYYY, like abcde1234f21011991.
CAS statement password (NSDL, CDSL, CAMS, KFintech)
NSDL and CDSL e-CAS: the PAN of the first or only demat holder, in capitals. CAMS and KFintech: the password you chose on the request form.
